- What is a "Room"?
-
Rooms are places where LinkCast users can hang out and enjoy sharing content. The settings of Rooms can be edited to adapt for specific purposes.

- What is a "Buzz Cast"?
-
Buzz Casts are short video or voice streams that are broadcast within a Room. Multiple people can cast simultaneously in the same Room!

- What is the purpose of a "Private Room"?
-
Private Rooms are non-public rooms which you can share with one other person. They are not open to the Public, and other members can not view their contents or participate.

- What is a Guest? What is a Host?
-
Guests are simply members who have joined somebody's created Room. The Host is the person who created the room, and only the Host has the ability to change the settings and functions of that Room. Members in a given room will always be either a Guest or a Host.

- What is an Account Transfer?
-
Account Transfer involves moving your LinkCast data from one device to another. By transferring your account to a new device you may continue using LinkCast using the same data. Please check the "Data Transfer" section of the FAQ for more info.

【Siri compatible】
Home screen -> Settings -> Siri -> App Support -> Set LinkCast to ON
By allowing LinkCast to access Siri via the above process, you can send messages to your friends through Siri.
Try saying something like the example below.
Example:

"Send a message to Emily with LinkCast I'm running late"
*Siri can be used to send messages to all friends in standing chat rooms.

- How is it possible to have a messenger without using a server?
-
When a message or a file is "sent" using Linkcast, the message or file is not actually "sent" thmoment. When a person receives attempts to view a message or file, the contents are then requested from the originsender. If the originsender`s device ha network connection thmoment, the contents will then be sent directly to the receiver and cbe viewed. The file cnot be sent if the sender does not have a network connection, but will be sent automatically once a connection is reestablished.

- Whexactly is "High Encryption" referring to?
-
LinkCast employs Elliptic-curve Diffie–Hellm(ECDH), which is anonymous key agreement protocol thallows two parties, each having elliptic-curve public–private key pair, to establish a shared secret over insecure channel. Furthermore, the data itself is encoded by AES-256CFB standards. To prevent on-route data altering, HMAC-SHA512 is used.

- How about Anonymity and privacy protection?

The main feature of Linkcast a messenger is thit uses P2P to send data directly between devices, meaning thdata is highly secure. Methods such Domain Fronting are not used to disguise both parties in the transfer of data.

- Does my message partner have to have the LinkCast app opened?
-
Not all. Neither party is required to have the app open to receive incoming messages. Files cbe sent and received between two devices soon a network connection is established. While to the end-user LinkCast will appea server based messenger, no data is ever sent to a server.

- Is there any risk of telephone number data leakage?
-
LinkCast requires a valid phone number to create account. Phone numbers are used to identify the device through a one-wirreversible encoding process. Even in the chance ththis one-wcode leaked, there is no wthit could be used to identify the phone number.

- Whdoes the Message Stealth function entail?
-
Stealth messages will not be displayed in the receiver's push notifications, unlike normmessages which would be stored on Google or Apple`s push notification servers. Instead, Stealth messages will simply displas: "You have received a Stealth message" to the receiver. In other words, Message stealth is another layer of communication privacy.

- How about communication over long distances?
-
Thanks to the UDP protocol thLinkCast employs, long distances have very little effect on the speed of data delivery. Even arewith inferior network connectivity should be able to use LinkCast quite easily.

- Whhappens if my Nis compromised?
-
If any disruption in the Ntranslation is detected, LinkCast will automatically re-route the P2P connection to a SMTP RelServer. This RelServer acts only a UDP proxy, and does not decrypt data in any way. Multiple SMTP RelServers are located in Japan, Europe, North AmericChinand East Asi

- Doesn't a P2P connection use a lot of data?

LinkCast's P2P connection employs our originwireless hybrid P2P network. It uses both a Pull-type P2P network and switches to OverlNetwork. The Pull-type network only connects P2P when necessary, and therefore uses very little datFurthermore, the network uses the most direct route for data delivery, which means thLinkCast is very economicin regards to data usage.

- Does LinkCast have supernodes?
-
LinkCast does not have supernodes in its P2P network. Although the PC version of LinkCast currently allocates traffic to supernodes via a processing server, we are working towards a server-less network in the nefuture.

- Why does my device get hot sometimes?
-
Due to the encryption process, well the ability to send and receive large amounts of data files, the app times requires high processor usage. Your device will naturally heup slightly when processing large data files or streaming.

- It says that the the posted data could not be acquired.
-
Due to the battery settings on certain devices, LinkCast may not be automatically connecting to your mobile device. Please review your battery settings.
For example: The following steps can be performed on Huawei smartphones (wording and steps may vary depending on device) to resolve the issue:
1. Settings --> Battery --> Optimize Battery --> App Launch Settings
2.Settings --> Applications --> Application Settings --> Special Access Permission --> Ignore Battery Optimization
3.From the list search for "Phone Link Manager App" and change the setting from "Automatic" to "Do not manage".

- What can I do within a Room?

In Rooms, members can share text, stamps, images, voice chat, and video chat.

- Am I able to create a Room myself?
-
Yes, you can create a Room from the plus sign icon in the top right corner. The person who creates the room will become the Host of the room from the start. As the Host you can begin inviting people from your friends list as guests to the room.

- Can I change the name of a Room?
-
A Room name can be changed at any time, provided that you are the Host of that Room.

- What is the purpose of the Room's Private/Public settings?
-
Rooms that are set to Public can be seen and used by any person on LinkCast. They can be used to make Broadcasts to large amounts of people, or to enjoy a large open conversation. On the flip side, Private rooms provide anonymity from users outside of one's registered friends.

- What is the "Gist" of a Room?
-
The "Gist" is a simple way to descrbe the purpose of a certain room. It is a short description about the Room.

- What is a "Tag"?
-
A tag is a word or short phrase that can be attatched to a room, with the purpose of helping the room be found by others. In the case of public rooms, a tag will help new people find the room from the search engine. While tags are not as important for Private Rooms, they can add a bit of description to the Room.

- What is the meaning of "Allow p2p searches"?
-
By turning this function on, the Room will be displayed to those searching for it as long as somebody is currently in that Room. p2p can be enabled by checking the "Allow p2p searches" box in the search settings.

- What is an "Exclusive Broadcast"?
-
By enabling "Exclusive Broadcasting" in the settings, only the Host of the Room will become able to broadcast. This can be used to promote visability, and to prevent unwanted Broadcasts in a Room. It also prevents guests from making distracting videos that detract from the purpose of the Room.

- What is "Main Broadcast Mode"?
-
Main Broadcast Mode allows the Host of a Room to perform a "Main Broadcast". Main Broadcasts are displayed to all views on the entire screen, and is a special form of broadcasting. All Rooms set with this mode will have a "Curtain" displayed over the room when the Host is not Broadcasting. The Curtain image can be freely edited by the Host.

- What is a Password?

When a Password is enabled for a room, users first attempting to join that room will be prompted to input the Password. Only those who input the correct Password can then join that room.

- What is "Blocking"?
-
Blocking prevents a certain user from participating in a Room. Blocked users are removed from the room and are unable to enter it again.

- When should I use a "Mass Message"?
-
Mass Messages are useful when you wish to send the same message to multiple rooms. For example, instead of typing out the same message to all of your private rooms seperately, use a Mass Message to ask your friends what they are up to, or announce an upcoming Broadcast!

- What happens when I leave a room?
-
Leaving a room means ending your participation in that room. It does not mean that the room will be erased. Leaving a room removes it from your Joined Rooms Tab, but you can always re-enter that room at a later time if you wish. This will not affect any other members of that room.

- Tell me how to create a Private Room!

By tapping the "Chat" button on a specific persons profile, a Private Room between you and that specific member will be created.

- What are those check marks next to the chat?
-
Sometimes you may see check marks next to the chat in Private Rooms. These mean that the person you are sharing the chat with has already viewed that message.

- How can I participate in a Room that hasn’t been made Public?
-
You can participate if you have received and accepted an invite. An invitation is necessary to join.

- Tell me how to search for a Room.

Tap the magnifying glass icon in the top right to search by keywords. After inputing the keywords you wish to use to search for the room, tap OK and the results will be displayed.

- When I find a Room and enter it, does that make me the Host of that Room?
-
You will be a Guest when you enter rooms through searching. Guests may use a Room freely but can not change the settings of the Room.

- I would like to turn off message notifications for my Rooms.
-
Select "Notification Settings" from the main tab screen, and from there you can turn notifications on or off. You can also edit the notification settings for specific rooms.

- When inviting a friend through his/her profile, can I make him/her the host of the room?
-
Friends invited through their profile will be guests of that room. If you wish to add that friend as a Host, choose the "Add Host" option from the room information settings screen.

- Somebody is Buzz Casting something offensive.
-
Hold your finger down on that person's Buzz Cast screen, and an option to disable it will appear. From the settings you can disable the sound and video of a certain Buzz Cast.

- I don’t know how to tell who is broadcasting a Buzz Cast.

Tap lightly once on the video and that member's name will be displayed.

- The Curtain is getting in the way.
-
If there are currently no Casts being broadcast, you can swipe up on the Curtain to remove it. This is not possible if there is currently a Cast being broadcast however.

- Sometimes the displayed chat order gets messed up.

As of now, we have detected an error that affects the chat post display order when certain devices have had their internal clock changed. Try resetting your device's clock to your standard time.

Friends

- I don’t know how to register someone as a Friend.

From the center of that person's profile you can select the "Friend Request" option. That person will then receive the friend request. Upon accepting it, the two of you have been successfully registered as friends.

- I would like to search for a specific person within LinkCast.
-
Tap the top right icon in the friend tab, and the Add Friend page will be displayed. From there you can perfom a "QR Code search", a "Keyword Search", or a "One-time ID Search".

- I would like to add somebody that I met in a Room as a friend.

Tap on that person's text or stamp to be directed to that member's profile. From the profile page choose "Send Friend Request".

- When adding a person as a Friend, will they be notified of it?
-
Users are not notified when they are added by someone as a friend. However a notification will be sent when a Private Room has been created for that person. (Since a message will be sent to them)

- What is a "Keyword Search"?
-
Keyword Searches can be selected from the center of the Add Friend tab. You can search by User ID, or by any word that may appear in their profile. *Unavailable if that user has turned their "allow search by keyword" setting to OFF.

- What is a "One-time ID"?
-
One-time IDs are generated and effective for 5 minutes, after which they become disabled. They provide a secure way to make a search for a specific person.

- How do I use the QR Code function?
-
By taking a photo of a LinkCast user's QR Code, that person's profile will be displayed. The QR Code function is useful for adding someone physically nearby. Randomly generated QR Codes work in the same way as One-Time IDs in that they are only effective for a short time. Can be disabled and enabled under user settings.

- I'm having trouble taking a photo of the QR Code.

Often the camera takes a moment to focus on the QR Code itself. Give your device a moment to focus, and try again.

- I am unable to find someone using "Keyword Search".

It is possible that that person is not allowing him/herself to be searched by keyword.

- What is "Disable Automatic Friend-adding"?
-
LinkCast has a function that will automatically add all numbers registered in your Contacts list as Friends on LinkCast. By turning this function to ON, you may disable this function, and must search for friends manually.

- I do not want my profile to be displayed in Friend Searches.

Make sure that "Disable Keyword Search" under "Profile Settings" is set to ON, and your profile will not be displayed upon searches. Your profile will still appear to others using QR Code Searches and One-time ID Searches.

- What is the Stamp Shop?

The Stamp Shop is where Stamps can be exchanged for LinkCast Coins. No charge is incurred when exchanging Coins for Stamps.

- Where can I buy Coins?

Coins can be purchased using the Coin Charge function. Coins you have purchased can be used to exchange for Stamps.

- What is a Stamp Present?

Using LinkCast Coins, Stamps can be gifted to Friends. That Friend will be able to use those Stamps from the next time he/she logs in. Please note that gifting stamps as a Stamp Present does not mean that you can use those Stamps yourself. Stamps for your own use can be exchanged for LinkCast coins.

- I would like to confirm who has gifted me Stamps.

- I am getting the message "You already own this item" when I try to purchase Coins.

This message may be appearing due to a connection error. Try resetting your device, or reinstalling the app data if the problem persists. To erase the app data, go to Settings - Applications - GooglePlay Store - Storage - Erase Data (some devices may differ).

During the transferring process, both devices are connected and verifying at all times. Make sure both of the devices are connected to the internet constantly.

LinkCast can not be used on separate devices at the same time. After data transfer, you will only be able to use LinkCast on the new device.

What you will need:
-The device you currently use LinkCast on (from here on called "old device")
-The device you would like to start using (from here on called "new device")
-Your LinkCast login ID (can be checked from Other→Account Settings→Profile Settings)
-Your Account Password (can be changed from Other→Account Settings→Change Password)
-Your transfer ID
Performing an Account Transfer
1. On your old device, select Other→Account Settings→Account Transfer→turn settings to ON
2. Your transfer ID will be issued. Please write it down and keep it safe.
3. Until the transfer is complete, do not close the Account Transfer screen on your old device.
4. Open LinkCast on your new device.
5. Tap on the button "Transfer Account Here".
6. Enter your transfer ID, Login ID, and password.
7. Tap on "Proced with transfer".
8. Your Account should now be successfully moved to your new device.

- Nobody is joining my Public Room.

Make sure that the "Make Room Public" setting is set to ON, so that it will be displayed in searches. It also helps to make sure that the Gist of the room and the Tags are accurate for the content of the Room. If these are all in order, people interested in what you are broadcasting will be able to find your room.

- I seem to have forgotten my PIN.

You will be unable to login without your PIN code, so it is important that you keep it in a safe place in case you forget. In the case of a forgotten PIN, please erase the following files. -- com.btdstudio.linkcast > data.bin -- *Please note that this will erase any previous chat data, and that data can not be retreived in any way.
